Versus Florida Christian College, Southeastern junior Heather Johnson led the Lady Fire with six kills and 10 digs. Freshman Tara McSherley dished out 22 assists over the three games. Erika Retzsch added four kills and five digs, while junior college transfer Lyndy Armstrong, former Tri-Center player, also added five digs.
Against the College of the Bahamas, Lady Fire senior Kristen Ledlow led the offensive attack by going 7-for-7 on kill attempts, while McSherley led Southeastern with 18 assists. After dropping game one, the Lady Fire stormed back in game two thanks to Casey Jensen, who had three kills and three digs in the game. Jensen finished the match with 12 kills, five digs, and five solo blocks. In game three, Southeastern had built a 24-21 lead, but the Gyrenes battled back to tie the score at 25-25. 4/7/08 --Article below written by The Gazette
Tri-Center graduate’s book will be 50,000th published by AuthorHouse
AuthorHouse, the leading provider of self-publishing and marketing services for authors around the globe, has begun production on its 50,000th book title, Chloe’s Prayer. The author of the book, Leasa (Stark) Brouillard, is a 1991 graduate of Tri-Center High School who received her degrees in art and education from Dana College in Blair, Nebraska in 1996.
Brouillard’s interest in writing began while attending Tri-Center and has continued throughout her life.
When her father, Roger Stark, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2004, Brouillard began writing down all the questions her daughter Chloe was asking as they dealt with praying for “Grandpa’s owie to get better”. Roger Stark died in July of 2005.
It was not until after attending a writing conference that Leasa (Stark) Brouillard began to look at what she had written and got serious about publishing her book.
Brouillard, a first-time author, wrote Chloe’s Prayer as a tool to help parents deal with the tough questions and emotions children deal with when faced with the death of a loved one.
Brouillard’s young daughter Chloe struggled with understanding why her prayers for her grandfather to get better weren’t answered.
Brouillard currently resides near Portsmouth, Iowa. She is a wife and mother of three children including Chloe. She also has her own pottery studio and continues to work on her next book.
“I believe Chloe’s Prayer can be a useful tool to parents whose children face the same pain and confusion that Chloe did when her grandfather took ill and passed away,” said Brouillard. “I chose to publish this very personal project through AuthorHouse because unlike the traditional publishers I’d spoken with, AuthorHouse would allow me to keep the rights to the work and produce it in a hardback format. The publishing professionals I’ve worked with at AuthorHouse have made the whole experience a breeze.”
Since 1997, AuthorHouse, an Author Solutions brand, has helped more than 30,000 authors put their voice in print, and in 2007 published one of every 30 U.S. book titles.
“Since publishing our first book in 1997, AuthorHouse has enabled thousands of authors to realize their dream of publishing a book. This milestone is a tribute to the leadership we’ve exhibited in the self-publishing industry. Our comprehensive array of products and services appeals to both first-time and experienced authors,” said Kevin Weiss, chief executive officer of Author Solutions.
Weiss added that AuthorHouse publishes all genres. The most popular include fiction/adventure, religion, biography/autobiography, history, and family and relationships.
Chloe’s Prayer and its companion workbook are scheduled to be released by AuthorHouse in the spring of 2008. Each is listed at $12.99 on the website. For more information on AuthorHouse, please visit http://www.authorhouse.com
